How to Fade Dark Spots on Melanin-Rich Skin
By the Ekeau Beauty Team
Dark spots are one of the most common skin concerns we hear about. A healed blemish, a scratch, a summer in the sun or a shift in hormones can all leave a mark that lingers for months. On melanin-rich skin these marks often look deeper and last longer, because the skin answers any irritation by making extra pigment. The good news: marks do fade. The secret is a steady routine that brightens without irritating.
Cleanse gently, twice a day
Harsh scrubs and stripping soaps leave skin tight and inflamed, and inflammation is exactly what tells melanin-rich skin to make more pigment. Choose a cleanser that leaves your face soft and comfortable. Our Double Glutathione Bright Soap pairs arbutin with collagen to cleanse thoroughly without that squeaky, stripped feeling.
Use a brightening serum every day
Glutathione, niacinamide and vitamin C help even out the look of skin tone over time. Press a few drops into clean skin morning and evening. Then give it time: skin renews itself roughly every four weeks, so judge your results at eight to twelve weeks, not after a few days.
Moisturise to protect your skin barrier
A well-hydrated barrier is calmer and less reactive. Follow your serum with a cream that suits your skin: the Double Glutathione Bright Cream for everyday radiance, or the Clarifiant Clarifying Face Cream if your marks come from sun exposure.
Wear SPF every single morning
This is the step that makes everything else work. UV light darkens existing marks and creates new ones, even through clouds and windows. A broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, every morning, protects the progress your serum is making.
Be patient, and be kind to your skin
Resist picking, skip harsh DIY remedies such as lemon juice, and introduce one new product at a time. If a mark is raised, changing, or not fading at all after several months, ask your GP or a dermatologist to take a look.
